Managing Shot Details And AV Scripting

A shot record holds the description of what you intend to film and its technical and practical options.

Update A Shot

  1. In Shot List, open a scene and select View beside a shot.
  2. In Shot Details, edit Shot, Description, Visual Description and Audio Description.
  3. Set its timing fields and shot options.
  4. Select Update Shot Details.
  5. Use Previous, Next or Jump to shot to move to another shot.

Understand Timings And Options

Field Meaning
Duration (mm:ss) How long the finished shot lasts.
Prep Time (hh:mm) Preparation time for shooting it.
Est Time (hh:mm) Estimated time to shoot it.
Camera The camera number, from Camera 1 through Camera 5.
Size Framing and composition.
Type Camera angle/position choices.
Movement Planned camera movement.
Equipment, Lens, Visual Effects, Sound Requirements or technical choices available for the shot.

Several option fields allow more than one selection and supported custom entries. Finished-shot duration and time needed to film it are different quantities.

Write Audio And Visual Descriptions Together

  1. Return to the scene's list and select AV Scripting where available.
  2. Edit the Video and Audio columns for the shot.
  3. Wait for the save indication beside that row before moving on.

This provides a useful side-by-side working view for footage and its sound. It updates the shot descriptions rather than making a new screenplay document.

Supporting Information

Use available Storyboards, Notes, Inspiration, Attachments and Script tabs. Script is tied to imported scenes and is not available for custom lists in the same way. Technical tabs and actions can depend on the production's feature access and your permissions.

Troubleshooting

If a record is locked, follow its lock information before editing. If shot timings look implausible, check that you used minutes/seconds for duration and hours/minutes for prep and estimated shoot time.
