Organising A Stripboard
A stripboard shows filming order as scene strips separated by shooting-day breaks. Banners represent activities such as company moves and meals.
Arrange The Shooting Order
- Open Scheduling and the scenario's stripboard.
- Drag a strip's handle to the desired position when sorting is permitted.
- Continue grouping scenes in the order you intend to film them.
- Check the resulting day totals and requirements after moving strips.
The board shows scene, set, shots, interior/exterior and time, cast numbers, filming location, pages and estimated time. Scene colours help distinguish settings; dark End of Day banners separate days.
Duplicate A Stripboard
- Open Schedule → Duplicate Stripboard.
- Enter a name for the copy and select Duplicate.
- Continue in the new, inactive scenario.
The duplicate includes strip rows, shooting days, assigned shots, crew and cast assignments, dates and setup notes. Generated call sheets and recorded take logs are not copied.
Add Shooting Days
- Open the Scene menu on the last strip for the day.
- Select Add Day Break.
- Enter Shoot Date and select Add Day Break.
- Use the day-break Edit shooting date control to change Shoot Date or Day Start Time.
- Select Update Shoot Date.
A break belongs after the strips for that day. Check its position before preparing call sheets. Remove day break removes that separator after confirmation.
Add An Activity Banner
- Open the Scene menu where the activity should follow.
- Select Add Banner.
- Choose Banner Type: Company Move, Meal Break, Travel or Note.
- Enter Banner Title, Banner Description and Duration.
- Select Add Banner.
Use Remove banner when you intend to remove an activity, reading the prompt before confirming.
Add Or Split Manual Rows
Add row opens Add New Stripboard Row. Choose how many rows to add and confirm, then use Edit Scene Details on the resulting manual strips.
Where available, Scene menu → Split Scene creates another strip for a scene portion. Enter Scene Suffix, such as A for scene 4A, and Split Notes, then select Split Scene. A blank suffix is supplied automatically. Splitting is a scheduling arrangement; it does not rewrite the screenplay.
Hold Scenes Outside The Plan
Use Move To Boneyard and confirm to hold a strip outside the main schedule. The Boneyard appears below the board. Its restore control returns a held strip to the main schedule after confirmation; its removal control deletes the held row.
Apply Automatic Sorting
- Open Settings → Sort Stripboard.
- Choose First Sort, Second Sort and Third Sort.
- Choose Day Breaks Every if you want page-based separators.
- Select Sort Stripboard and inspect the result.
Options include day/night order, INT/EXT order, location and scene number. Automatic sorting can substantially rearrange your plan; inspect days and dates afterwards.
Troubleshooting
A held boneyard strip is outside the active shooting order. Day breaks and activity banners have different meanings: a meal banner does not close a shooting day. If loading fails, the board offers Retry; retry loading before repeating a change whose saved result is uncertain.
