Using Production Chat
Production Chat opens the shared conversation system. A conversation is available to its participants; production access alone does not make you a participant in every conversation.
Start A Conversation
- Select Chat in the production navigation.
- Use New Direct Message to choose a user and select Start Chat.
- For a group, use Group, enter Group Name, select members and choose Create Group.
- Select the conversation from Chats.
- Enter text in Type a message... and select Send.
Share And Find Information
Use Attach a file to add a supported file. A message needs text or an attachment. Text is limited to 2,000 characters and attachments to 10 MB; the configured allowed file types are enforced on upload.
Use Search messages... in the open conversation to find messages. Select a message attachment to retrieve it where offered.
Manage A Group
Use Rename, enter the new name and select Save Changes. Add Members opens the member picker; select people and choose Add Users. Leave Group removes your participation after the displayed prompt. Direct messages cannot be renamed as groups.
On smaller screens, Back to chats returns from the conversation to the list.
Troubleshooting
If you cannot access a conversation, check membership. If a message cannot send, shorten text or use an accepted attachment within the upload limit. The interface can show an access message when collaboration is unavailable; production permissions and feature access both matter.
