Creating Mind Maps
A Mind Maps canvas can be personal, attached to a production, or linked to a writing document. It can contain connected cards or free text for story structure, research and visual references.
Create A Map Without A Script
Select Mind Maps beside Beat Sheets in the main menu for personal maps, or within the active production for production maps. Select New Mind Map, enter a title, and select Create Mind Map.
Personal maps are private to their owner. The production owner and active members can view, edit, rename, and export production maps. Only the map creator or production owner can delete them. Use Back to Mind Maps to return to the list and its rename and delete actions.
Build A Map
- Open a map from its list, or open a writing document and select Mind Maps.
- Select Add Node for an idea card, or Add Text for text without a containing panel.
- Double-click the item to edit its text.
- Select or hover over text to use Bold, Italic, Underline, Text style, Text colour and Add Link.
- Use Text style for Normal text or Heading 1 through Heading 6.
- Drag the item to position it; drag its right edge to adjust width.
Connect And Style Ideas
Shift-click to select several cards, then select Link Cards or press L. The first selected card links to the others; applying the same connection again toggles it off. Choose Links → Organic or Angled to change the connection style.
Select nodes to set Shape to Rounded, Rectangle, Oval or Hexagon, or use Colour. Free-text items use the colour for the text. Drag the background to pan and scroll to zoom. Grid toggles the grid; Recenter helps you return to the map content.
Add Media
- Select one node.
- Select Image and choose a JPEG, PNG or WebP image.
- Wait for the upload and the resized image preview.
- To add a clip, select Video.
- In Embed a video, paste Video link for YouTube or Vimeo and select Add video.
Each node can contain up to 20 images or videos. Images must be no larger than 10 MB, with dimensions no greater than 8,192 pixels on either side and no more than 25 megapixels. A player appears inside the node for a valid video link. Hover over the image or player to reveal Remove.
Save, Remove And Export
Changes save automatically. Check Map saved; if saving fails, use Retry save while your changes are still on the page. Delete or the Delete key removes selected nodes when you are not editing text. Removing a node also removes its map connections.
Use Export image or Export PDF to share a visual copy. Export access is separate from map editing access.
Troubleshooting
If the map is read-only, you can pan, zoom and inspect it but cannot change nodes. The owner controls Can access mind maps and Can edit mind maps separately. A valid video link still depends on the provider allowing the clip to play as an embed; check its availability if the player cannot play it.
