Saving And Restoring Revision History
The writer saves changes after a pause and records history snapshots over time. History lets you compare earlier saved writing with the current document.
Save Writing
- Write in the current document.
- Look for Saving... and wait for the saved-time feedback.
- For an explicit save, select Document Options → Save, or press Ctrl/Cmd + S in the writer.
- Wait for completion before switching documents or opening a comparison.
Save feedback appears in the Documents panel and remains visible in the top bar during focus mode. History does not record every keystroke.
Review A Saved Version
- Select Revision History in the writer navigation.
- Choose a dated entry under Saved revisions.
- Compare Saved version and Current version.
- Read the Added or updated and Removed or replaced highlighting.
- Select Back to editor if you only wanted to review.
Restore Earlier Writing
- Duplicate the current document first if you want to keep it as a separate draft.
- In history, select the saved version you need.
- Select Restore this version.
- Confirm Restore version.
- Check the restored writing in the editor.
Restoration replaces the current document's writing. It requires writing access; viewing history requires history access.
Troubleshooting
If no useful earlier version is listed, history cannot supply writing that was never saved. If Revision History does not open, report the problem. If the writer displays a save failure and a reload prompt, follow that prompt and check the recovered document; a visible edit is not proof of a completed save.
