What is a Day Out of Days?
A Day Out of Days, or DOOD, is a chart that shows which cast members are needed on which shoot days. It is built from your stripboard and typically marks start, work, hold and finish days for each actor.
Why do I need a DOOD?
The report helps you plan casting, contracts and budgets by showing exactly how many days each actor works and how long they are on hold. It makes it easier to confirm availability, negotiate fees and avoid paying for unused days. It also helps you spot ways to group scenes more efficiently.
How do I read a DOOD?
Each row is a cast member and each column is a shoot day. Common codes include SW for start work, W for work, H for hold, WF for work finish and SWF for start work finish. The total number of work days appears at the end of each row.
